10 Tips To Keep Your Account Secure
Banking online or on your mobile device is EASY and SAFE with Republic Bank when our Easy Tech is secure on the backend. As an Online & Mobile Banking* account holder, you also play a valuable role in keeping your money safe.
Never share your usernames, passwords, or passcodes with any individual or third party. Avoid allowing your devices to save or remember your passwords. Republic Bank will never contact you to ask for your card PIN or Online & Mobile Banking passwords. If you contact us directly, we may ask for your personal information (account or card number or username) for verification purposes.
The most secure passwords combine letters, numbers, and special characters. Avoid using your public and private, personal information, such as your full name, email, social security number or birthday as your username or password. Use a different username and password for your banking, than you use for other websites. If your data is hard to crack, cybercriminals will move on.
When you use Zelle® with Republic Bank, your information is protected with the same Easy Tech we use to keep your bank account safe. Zelle® is just like paying cash. If you do not know the person, or you aren’t sure you will get what you paid for, you should not use Zelle® for these types of transactions. Transactions made through online bidding, social media, or sales sites or apps are high risk.
We’ve got you covered there, too. Republic Bank offers multiple ways to check your account. Access Online & Mobile Banking 24/7, as well as the Republic Bank Access Line, available at 1-888-584-3644. Set a reminder to login each day! We recommend making a habit to check your accounts daily, or at least every 2-3 days.
Most devices will notify you when an update is available. Avoid delaying in updating your devices because most updates will have vital security developed in the operating system updates. Install a security program on a Windows computer, and scan your computer often to avoid malware or viruses. Avoid pop-ups that ask you to purchase a program, as they may be spoofed. Consult a professional or a tech savvy friend or family member you trust, if you are unsure of your device’s security requirements.
Avoid un-secured, public wi-fi, such as a local coffee shop or library, where cybercriminals may intercept your personal login information, or may hack and add virus or malware to your device.
Avoid adding a temporary phone number, or friend or family member phone numbers. If it’s listed as a security option, your online bank account is accessible by the individual who owns that phone number. Many times, temporary phone numbers are recycled. If you are without a permanent phone number, and you need to access your Online & Mobile Banking account, please contact us directly. We can temporarily assist you with your login.
Pay all of your bills in one place with BILL PAY to avoid entering your sensitive information on other websites. Add all of your accounts in one secure place using MONEY MANAGEMENT, a tool to help you keep track of your spending, financial goal setting, and staying on budget.
Avoid suspicious websites. Use alternate secure methods of payment, such as Paypal or mobile wallets to avoid entering in your card information directly on other websites. Read customer reviews before purchasing the product. Refrain from clicking on hyperlinks in emails, texts, ads, or pop-ups. Do not share any of your sensitive information with anyone contacting you directly. Only trust the known short codes that Republic Bank uses.
